NEWEST NAUSET UPDATE

June 1 2017

Good afternoon,

I'd like to quickly remind all of our members and friends, particularly those that use Nauset Beach in Orleans and Chatham, to please recognize...
and understand where and why certain areas of the beach have been temporarily symbolically fenced off for migrating shorebirds. As always, staff from both towns are working diligently to make certain the plovers fledge successfully on their first attempt. We all know by now that re-nesting only leads to longer closers and less access for all that want to experience the Over Sand Vehicle program. Please pass along to friends and neighbors that regardless of whether or not an exclosure is visible, please do not enter a symbolically fenced off area. Pets are also not allowed in these areas regardless of reasoning. Also keep in mind, pets are to be leashed at all times until after Labor Day. It has been reported that the Town of Orleans will be closing the Over-Sand Vehicle trails south of the parking lot starting June 7, 2017. I will do my best to keep everyone updated as information becomes available.

Thank you, and enjoy your beach season.
Scott Morris
MBBA, Nauset Beach Representative
